Kentish Town u10s over came 30 top teams from north London and Hertfordshire to win the parkfield tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The U10 team started their tournament in group A and faced Northwood where they got off to a steady start with 1-0 victory. The next two games really saw the team get into their stride with a 5-0 win against host team parkfield red followed by a 6-0 victory against Harrow st martins.
The next game saw them suffer their only defeat of the tournament against a very competitive London Athletic in a narrow 1-0 defeat.
The team were quick to put their disappointment of losing behind them when facing Queen’s Park Sharks in their final group game with another fantastic display in s 6-0 win.
Their impressive run of results saw Town qualify from their group in second place and face another host team, Parkfield White in the quarter final. The guys started really well and managed to get an early goal to settle their nerves. Another goal after 6 mins meant they could settle down and progress into the semi finals.
The semi final offered the boys the chance to gain revenge for their earlier defeat when they faced London Athletic for the second time. This time the boys were determined not to lose and battled hard for a great 2-0 win.
In the final the boys faced a very good team in Ickenham. Again they managed to get themselves an early goal follow by a second, however they then conceded only their second goal of the tournament to make it a nervous final few minutes. They proved there was no need to worry by continuing to play good football and find a third goal to finish it off 3-1
This was a great display all day from all players involved and a real good achievement in a very respected tournament. The football played was great to watch and it seems the sky is the limit for what this team could achieve.
